Artist Tania Herrera and her family in Southern California

Welcome to My Artistic World

Hello and welcome to my world of art!

I'm Tania, an artist, creator, wife, and mother to two wonderful children, Camila and Mateo.

My art is crafted to inspire, bringing joy, color, and beauty into your life. I work from my studio at home in Southern California, surrounded by picturesque mountain views and my loving family.

My Artistic Journey

From my childhood in Argentina, I've always been drawn to art, spending my days drawing and painting, continuously seeking creative expressions. College was where I discovered the enchantment of mixed media, which now plays a central role in my work. Nature's beauty deeply inspires me; I often take photos during my walks and travels, with botanicals and animals frequently featured in my illustrations.

Embracing the Creative Process

The experience of creating art is indescribable. Over time, I've learned to trust my intuition, enjoying the creative process and embracing the energy it brings. Post-graduation from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, life took over — raising children, growing our family business, and dealing with my son's rare kidney disease. The pandemic brought a period of introspection, leading me back to my forgotten dreams. Days at the beach in Baja California, feeling the ocean breeze, collecting shells and seaglass, reignited my passion. It was during these moments that the name 'Aquamarine' resonated with me, compelling me to revisit my old paints and brushes.

A Revelation Through a Child's Eyes

My son Mateo once told me, “Mom, you are an artist.” This was a moment of revelation, seeing through his eyes what I hadn't acknowledged. Now, I'm here, creating art for your enjoyment, in a time of healing and comfort.

Why Aquamarine?

Aquamarine holds deep significance for me. It's not only my favorite color, reflecting the sea's magnificence, but also my daughter's gemstone, symbolizing truth and wisdom. Aquamarine represents trust, tranquility, serenity, clarity, and harmony — the latter reminding me of my grandmother Armonia, an incredible creator with whom I shared a strong bond. It embodies courage, calmness, and mental clarity.

My Artistic Process

My art begins with fluid acrylics, watercolor, or collage for backgrounds. I then layer with acrylics, adding details using posca pens or watercolor markers. Occasionally, I embellish my works with paper flowers or laces, adding a unique touch to each piece.
